Common Name: Painted Conure
Description: General plumage green; narrow band to area above bill dark brownish-red; lores and cheeks reddish-brown; lower cheek area with bluish tinge; forehead and front of crown blue; back of crown and head as well as nape dark brown; ear-coverts brownish-white; sides of neck, throat and upper breast greyish-brown becoming green on breast with each feather narrowly edged whitish to dull yellow giving scalloped appearance; variable blue band to nape; abdomen, lower back and upper tail-coverts reddish-brown; bend of wing red; primary-coverts and outer webs of primaries blue; tail upperside brownish-red with green base; tail underside dull brownish-red; periophthalmic ring dark grey; iris brown; feet grey; bill dark grey.

Loudness: Painted Conures are known for their quieter natures, however, quiet is in comparison to other species of conures. Almost any conure will be louder than a cockatiel for example. However, Painted Conures can make good apartment birds.
Talking Ability: Painted Conures tend to be quiet for conures so naturally they generally dont talk as much/often either. Painted Conures can learn to speak a few words.
Notes: Painted Conures are know to be more laid back then Green Cheek Conure. They are also more quieter than other Conures.
These birds have been vaccinated for the polyoma virus. It is crucial for young birds to be protected as they have little to no immune system for their first year of life. Just as people, cats, dogs are vaccinated, we use vaccines to substantially decrease the incidence of disease in birds. By doing this we have developed a positive reputation that separates us from the "birdie mills" that do not aspire to the same standards. We have a vet on the premises bi-weekly that administer this vaccine and monitors our babies and flock.
