Breeding Notes: African Ringneck doves nest in small trees and bushes in the wild, low to the ground. After a dove pair have successfully bred, the male will gather materials for a nest, after which the clutch is laid, usually consisting of two eggs, with a day or two in between the laying of each egg. These eggs are then sat upon by the female and incubated for two weeks. Once they have hatched, the babies are fed "pigeon milk", a substance from the lining of the adult's crops. After seven or so days, the babies are introduced to seed along with the pigeon milk. After 21 days, the babies will have transitioned to an all-seed diet, but will continue to rely on their parents for another week or so as they learn to care for themselves.
