Housing: If kept as a pet, cage bars should be a half in apart or less, and the cage should be at least 13 by 15 by 17 inches in size
Loudness: Generally quiet
Notes: As diamond doves spend a lot of time walking about the bottom of the cage, their cages or enclosures should not have grates over the floors. As such, the floors must be kept clean. Additionally, perches should be installed far enough from each other to allow safe flight.
Diamond doves, unlike parrots, swallow seeds whole, and should be provided grits so as to aid digestion.
Certain lines of diamond doves have been bred for so long that in some cases, they're considered domesticated animals. They can make great pets if tamed, but if kept as pets, they should be given as much attention as one would give a parrot. If one doesn't have that kind of time, they're better kept in pairs or groups.
