Blue White Tailed Diamond Dove - Diamond Geopelia Cuneata Bird

Blue White Tailed Diamond Dove Diamond

Notable traits of the Blue White Tailed Diamond Dove Bird: Diamond (Geopelia Cuneata)
Latin Name: Geopelia Cuneata
Common Name: Blue White Tailed Diamond Dove
Description: Solid white rump and tail feathers, may have elongated, barred, or enlarged wing spots. The two central tail feathers may have shaded or dark tips.
Gender Determination: Males have larger eye rings than the females and have more of a greyish tinge to their backs whereas females have more of a beige or brown tinge
Trainability: Sweet and gentle if tamed and given attention
Length: 20 cm
Average Lifespan: 15 years
Average Weight: Roughly 30 grams
Diet: Pellets, Seeds, Rice, Greens, Beans, Egg food
Housing: Single birds kept as pets should be given cages of at least 13 by 15 by 17 inches, with bars spaced a maximum of half an inch apart
Loudness: Quiet birds
Notes: As diamond doves swallow their seeds whole, they should have access to grits, which help them digest their food.
Cages should not have grates above the floor, as they walk around a lot. As such, they should also be given as much space to roam in the cage or enclosure as possible. They should also have access to perches placed far enough apart as to allow safe flight.
Diamond doves can make gentle pets if tamed and given attention. However, they should only be kept alone if the owner is in a position to provide them with as much attention as one would provide a parrot. If the owner is unsure that he or she would have that kind of time, diamond doves are better kept with at least one companion.
