Notes: This is a more needy bird than most and will require a lot of attention to be a happy & healthy pet. They enjoy many toys and to be treated as one of the family with all the privileges that this brings. All Cockatoos have a feather dander that is part of the bird. The dander can be somewhat controlled with bathing a few times per week, which the bird loves. Best to do your research on the bird before you get any cockatoo. Saying this, they do make a magnificent pet if you have the environment to keep this bird. The larger the cage the better but the minimum would be 30 inches x 48 inches 48 inches.
These birds have been vaccinated for the polyoma virus. It is crucial for young birds to be protected as they have little to no immune system for their first year of life. Just as people, cats, dogs are vaccinated, we use vaccines to substantially decrease the incidence of disease in birds. By doing this we have developed a positive reputation that separates us from the "birdie mills" that do not aspire to the same standards. We have a vet on the premises bi-weekly that administer this vaccine and monitors our babies and flock.
