Common Name: Gold Cap Conure
Description: General plumage dark green; front of forehead and eye area red becoming orange-yellow on fore crown; cheeks in some birds washed yellow to orange-yellow; throat and upper breast tinged faintly greyish-blue; feathers to lower breast, abdomen and lower back edged burgundy-red; under wing-coverts red; outer webs of primaries, primary-coverts and secondaries blue; upperside of tail olive-green with blue tips; underside of tail and flight-feathers blackish; periophthalmic ring whitish; iris brown; bill blackish; feet grey. Immatures with green fore-crown with scattering of a few red to orange-red feathers; red edging to abdomen and lower back fainter; iris dark.

These birds have been vaccinated for the polyoma virus. It is crucial for young birds to be protected as they have little to no immune system for their first year of life. Just as people, cats, dogs are vaccinated, we use vaccines to substantially decrease the incidence of disease in birds. By doing this we have developed a positive reputation that separates us from the "birdie mills" that do not aspire to the same standards. We have a vet on the premises bi-weekly that administer this vaccine and monitors our babies and flock.
